Alejandro Colunga

1948 -

Alejandro Marín Colunga was born in Guadalajara, Jalisco, Mexico, in 1948. He is a mostly self-taught artist. He began working with ceramist Jorge Wilmot, a craftsmen from Tonalá. In 1975 he became a founding member of the Gallery OHM de Guadalajara.

Colunga has received and number of distinguished prizes and distinctions such as the Prize Minerva to the Arts in 1988 and the Jalisco Prize in 1993. He has been including in books and publications such as Jalisco Genius and Masters (MARCO, Monterrey), Four Centuries of Jalisciense (National Camera of Commerce of Guadalajara) and he is in the Dictionary of Sculpture Mexicana U.N.A.M.
